Opportunities for the halal industry are very large. Both Inbound Tourist (Muslim tourists from abroad visit Indonesia) and Outbound Tourist (Muslim tourists from Indonesia travel abroad).
Muslim tourism activists who are members of the Indonesian Islamic Travel Communication Forum (IITCF) and the Association of Indonesian Muslim Tour Leaders (ATLMI) continue to strive to make a breakthrough to intensify halal tourism, both domestically and internationally. “One of them is by establishing the Global Halal Travel Consortium,” said the Chairman of IITCF who is also the Chair of ATLMI Priyadi Abadi to Republika.co.id, Thursday (03/16/2017).
Regarding this, said Priyadi, IITCF administrators and ATLMI conducted an audience with the Chairman of the Halal Tourism Acceleration Team, Tourism Ministry Riyanto Sofyan at Sofyan Hotel Betawi, Jakarta, Thursday (3/16). “Pak Riyanto invited us to come to his office at Sofyan Betawi Hotel. This hearing was in the context of the synergy of IITCF and ATLMI with the Ministry of Tourism in order to help the government program increase the number of tourists visiting halal tours. This includes preparing sellers and preparing superior halal tour packages through a cross-selling strategy by establishing the Global Halal Travel Consortium, “Priyadi said.
Priyadi added, the Global Halal Travel Consortium covers a number of countries, namely Malaysia, Singapore, Brunei Darussalam, India, China, Australia and the Philippines. These countries as target markets are expected to be one of the efforts to increase Inbound Tourist, especially Indonesian Muslim tourists. “In the future, IITCF and ATLMI will sign a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Pak Riyanto as chairman of the Halal Tourism Acceleration Team, Ministry of Tourism,” Priyadi said.
Besides Priyadi, IITCF and ATLMI administrators who attended the hearings were Yulita Widiastuti, Edy Ismail Januar, Memento Mori, Muhammad Fajar Akbar, and Handayani Patrianti.
